A VERY BIG HELLO! I hope everyone has been doing well. I wanted to come on here and give an update as I haven't written a blog post in so long! I'm excited to speak about some events that happened over the weekend. I'll start from the beginning, for a while now I've been wanting to do a fundraising event to give back to my community and do it in a way that's fun and creative. I came up with Shoot For A Cause as a way that photographers and models in the area can come together and raise awareness. The only thing I needed was a great foundation that sparked something in me to pull the trigger on pushing it all to come together. I ended up meeting the founder of a local non profit, Act Now USA's Nick Defo, and when he spoke of his cause to fight against human trafficking you could really tell this was something he was passionate about. The gears started turning and it wasn't long before I reached out to Nick to get the ball rolling on planning for Shoot For A Cause!
Saturday, August 7th we held our first event and I could have not been happier on the way it turned out. I am so proud of the Long Island photo community for coming together for this. We held our event at the beautiful PopUp Speak Easy studio in Ronkonkoma, NY. The owners Kat and Jose we absolutely accommodating and are truly creative visionaries with the spaces they have created in their studio. If you haven't had a photo session their yet, I highly recommend doing so! To all my photographers and models that came to the event I wanted to give a huge thank you. Without all of you I would not have been able to make this idea into a reality. I feel truly blessed to have worked with all of you! For those who could not participle but decided to donate, I am truly thankful for you as well. Without all of you we would have not been able to reach our goal of $1,000! I wanted to share some words from Nick Defo, founder of Act Now USA.
"So I wanna let you know that the donations are going right into us acquiring software we need to hunt traffickers on the internet - which is such a huge step for us to be able to do. Thank you for organizing this."
"So your event will quite literally be the cause of people being identified and rescued."
